Our mission is to provide support, resources, and a sense of belonging to Latinos from all walks of life. We aim to celebrate our rich heritage through various programs and events and promote unity within our community.

Founder

Michelle Carmona

Meet Michelle, the founder of Latinos in St. Thomas Community. Originally from Peru, Michelle is deeply passionate about helping others and serves as a dedicated ambassador for the Latino community. In addition to her work as a Realtor, she is an active member of the Community Inclusion Council with St. Thomas Police and the St. Thomas-Elgin Local Immigration Partnership Council. In her spare time, she enjoys spending quality moments with family and friends. Committed to empowering the Latino community in St. Thomas, Michelle works tirelessly to support its growth and success.

Administrative Assistant

Laura Hernandez

Laura is a business engineer originally from Colombia, where she earned her degree in Business Administration. She moved to Canada in 2024 and is passionate about discovering her new home alongside her husband. Laura believes that through our community, she can help immigrants overcome fear and gain hope for their future. With her extensive background in administration, Laura provides valuable support to the organization, offering her expertise, fresh ideas, and hands-on help with event coordination. She supports the vision of Latinos in St. Thomas as a place where newcomers feel welcomed, empowered, and part of a connected community.

Social media and Marketing Coordinator

Ana Servilla

Ana is originally from Colombia and is passionate about helping others and advocating for animals. With a diploma in Broadcasting, Television and Film Production and a BA in Media, Information, and Technoculture, she brings a creative and thoughtful approach to her role as Social Media and Marketing Coordinator. Ana also supports event coordination and plays an important role in sharing the community’s message in meaningful and engaging ways. Her goal is to amplify the voices within the Latino community in St. Thomas and beyond—helping people connect, participate, and benefit from everything the community has to offer.

Community Interpreter

Hector Lozano

Hector, originally from Colombia, is a certified community interpreter fluent in English, French, and Spanish. As the founder of International Translations Solutions, he leverages over 20 years of experience to bridge language gaps and support diverse communities across Ontario. Hector works directly in legal, medical, and non-profit sectors, helping refugees, newcomers, and individuals access interpretation services that make them feel seen, heard, and supported. He actively helps Latinos in St. Thomas connect with vital resources and fully engage in the community. Hector’s mission is to foster inclusion, understanding, and connection through the power of language.

Event Coordinator

Cesar Carmona

Cesar, originally from Colombia, is a dedicated event coordinator for Latinos in St. Thomas. Passionate about building meaningful connections, he creates a welcoming environment for both newcomers and long-time residents. While working as an Information Technology Specialist, Cesar leads the organization and logistics of community events, ensuring everything runs smoothly from start to finish. His strong work ethic and attention to detail bring initiatives to life. Outside of volunteering, Cesar enjoys quality time with family and friends and regularly plays soccer. He welcomes questions and ideas for upcoming events and is always happy to connect.

Social Media Coordinator

Patricia Jimenez

Patricia, originally from the Dominican Republic, brings her creativity and marketing skills to her role as Social Media Coordinator at Latinos in St. Thomas. She designs inclusive, engaging content that highlights the diversity of the community and helps newcomers feel at home. Now living in Canada with her family, Patricia enjoys exploring Ontario and sharing tips on her YouTube channel. She exemplifies how social media can be a powerful tool to connect cultures and strengthen community bonds. Patricia is always open to new ideas and eager to collaborate on meaningful projects.

Administrative Assistant

Andres Carmona

Andres, born to Colombian and Peruvian parents, has been an active member of the Latino community his entire life. Fluent in English and Spanish, he is passionate about serving others, especially youth and newcomers who are adapting to a new environment. As an Event Coordinator and Administrative Assistant, Andres supports the planning and execution of cultural events, family gatherings, and community programs. He brings strong leadership experience from school initiatives and student council, helping create welcoming spaces where families feel connected and supported.
